Hello,

I’m Shaela

Welcome, I’m happy you’re here.

I’m Shaela Sturgeon, owner and photographer of Earth To Shaela.

Originally from Moultonborough, New Hampshire, I moved to Miami in 2022 to attend the University of Miami, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Ecosystem Science and Policy. Now, my next chapter will begin in Chicago, starting July 2026.

My passion for the environment is rooted in my perspective— humans are part of nature and must seek balance with it, not dominion over it.

Similarly, my art rests on my perspective. My photography isn’t about creating— but capturing. My favorite moments are not the posed or planned but the raw and genuine ones. My artistic style is polished and true, but fluid and adaptive to my clients and the environment. I strive to leverage the uniqueness of every session and prioritize collaboration and storytelling.

I am a natural light photographer skilled in portrait, event, sports, wildlife and nature, and travel photography.

Mission

To elevate natural moments through refined skill and honest, polished photography. By collaborating with clients throughout the experience, I seek to understand and curate your unique story—creating a lasting bridge between the moment and the memory.

Vision

To document a world of connection and change. Through intentional photography, I act as a steward for stories and strive to showcase intersections of our natural worldfrom genuine emotion to life against a landscape. My photography captures where people meet planet.

Values

I approach every session with a deep reverence for the environments that host our stories and prioritize the integrity of the landscape. My work is rooted in the belief that we are guests in these spaces, and creative work should honor— rather than disrupt— the natural world.

We are stewards of Earth

I know that the most beautiful photographs can’t always be posed. Having grown up behind the lens but shy in front of it, I am committed to creating a grounded, collaborative space where you feel seen. We work together to transform hesitation into confidence, ensuring the gallery is a true reflection of the vision.

Comfort, confidence, you!

Nature is never static, and neither is a great session. I pride myself on my ability to adapt to the energy of the moment—whether I’m capturing the split-second intensity of a sporting event or the intimate celebration of a graduate. Adaptability can be key to capturing the perfect moment.

Versatility & perspective

Self-taught. Adaptive.

My skill comes from experience in diverse environments.

Energy & Action

Three years of event and sports photography has taught me to anticipate the unstaged moment. From the roar of the sidelines to the energy of Miami events, I’ve mastered the art of being in the right place at the right time to capture the peak of the action.

Personal & Intimate

My portrait work is where vision meets vulnerability. I specialize in graduation sessions that feel like a collaboration. By blending curated styling with a relaxed environment, I help you move past the 'posed' look to find an image that feels entirely like you.

My time spent traveling Europe and trekking the Everglades has refined my technical precision. Nature doesn't take direction, so I’ve learned to work with the light and landscape as they are—bringing that same patience and organic beauty back to my human subjects.

Capturing moments

that feel like you

I grew up as the camera-shy daughter of a pro photographer who loved capturing every moment of her kids— I will help you feel comfortable, confident, and like you during your session or event.
